1. The construction should be predominantly of wood adopting the traditional idea of bogey building, namely a form of transport made in the back yard using any wood you can lay your hands on, some screw, nails, a piece of rope and four wheels.  It is up to the individual to develop the construction but seriously, we are looking for traditional design with a few mod-cons and not an F1 model.

2. It should be designed to carry one person

3. It should be manpowered, mechanical propulsion shall not be allowed.

4. It shall have a drivers seat.

5. It shall have a number plate measuring 75mm x 75mm (3” x 3”) fixed to the front of the bogey in a prominent position.

6. Wheels:-

i. It shall have 4 wheels, preferably one at each corner.
ii. Wheels do not necessarily have to be the same size all round.
iii. There is no restriction on the type of tyre to be used.

7. Maximum dimensions:-

i. Overall length 1350mm (5’ 0”)
ii. Overall width 920mm (3’ 0”)
iii. Minimum ground clearance 50mm (0’ 2”)
iv. Overall diameter of wheels 650mm (2’ 2”)

8. Optional extras:

i. Steering wheel
ii. Brakes
iii. Lights
iv. Indicators
v. Mud guards
vi. S.I.P.S. (side impact protection system)

9.  There is a prize for the “Best Dressed Bogie” in the specified theme.

ALL COMPETITORS SHOULD EXAMINE THESE DETAILS AND BRING ANY DISCREPANCIES TO THE ATTENTION OF LEEDS DA’S COMMITTEE PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION.
